TranzAct currently has the following position available:

DBA/Network Technician

Maintain all Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008 server systems.
Provide management guidelines and oversight for all desktop and laptop workstations
Maintain, monitor and proactively respond to system issues to maximize overall system SLA’s
Maintain, implement, and make recommendations regarding server upgrades for Sybase ASE 15.0.3, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 databases
Manage and coordinate yearly SAS70 compliance audits
Maintain and secure all network devices including firewalls, switches, etc;
Maintain and manage a VMware ESXi 4.0 infrastructure
Monitor, manage, and ensure reliability of all server system backups
Maintain existing WSUS software systems
Provide oversight for maintenance of inventory and software licensing management systems
Monitor and maintain a central linux hardware and software monitoring system
Uses established fact-finding procedures, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with related programming practices, system software, and computer equipment to provide required analysis of business and/or scientific problems
Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

BS/BA college degree required (a technical background such as CSCI is preferred)
3-4 years of IT Technical Management experience preferred
Technical certifications such as an MCSE, MCDBA, or MCPD are a plus

Understands complex database concepts and effectively employs different database design techniques.
Possesses demonstrated work experience with more than one relational database management system.
Understands OO concepts and consistently applies them in client engagements.
Understands the benefits of the various programming languages.
Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
Understands browser / client specific compatibility issues.

Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
Holds regular status meetings with development team.
Keeps development team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Challenges others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model.
Inspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.
